Worlds -- Gothic Journeys, DragonCon's first Goth programming track,
also explored writers' perspectives on fan fiction and franchise work.
Caitlin R. Kiernan (left), who writes for comics in addition to her original
novels, understands well the lure of playing in someone else's universe.
She occasionally writes fan fiction herself. Panel moderator Bridgette
Parker (right) got her start writing in the world of Storm Constantine's
Wraeththu. Only Lynn Flewelling (center) expressed serious discomfort
with the fan fiction phenomenon -- and the copyright issues it raises.
