Do follow the system specs. You'll never achieve lift-off without all the necessary software.
Expect a slow load. Even DSN lines and cable modems take their time with streaming video.
View the suggested resources in context with the narrative.
Choose your own path among the perspectives offered. Course narration and suggested resources don't always match. Participating writers and experts contradict each other all the time.
Don't expect this course to teach you how to write, but do expect to learn. A lot.
Writing Sessions emphasizes nonfiction, mainstream, suspense, mystery and romance. Kurt Vonnegut and Tom Clancy as close as it gets to science fiction or fantasy, despite Penguin Putnam's strong SF/fantasy list.
Review the industry information several times.
Recognize that all the featured authors are bestsellers. Industry professionals respect their judgment on writing and editing, because their critical and commercial successes speak for themselves.
All the material presented assumes the best-case scenario. The course does not offer any suggestions on how to survive an unsympathetic editor, indifferent agent, plagiarism charges, or what to do when a real-life, fairy tale princess dies the day after you release your first romance novel.
Enjoy the insight like a pro and the entertainment like a fan. Writing Sessions provides good value for both.
