But Meredith's vocation means nothing to Cameron MacKay, the sole surviving member of Clan MacKay. Seeking to avenge the death of his father and brothers at the hands of Munro raiders, Cameron enters the nunnery in the night and kidnaps Meredith. He arranges it so everyone believes she died by her own hand -- a mortal sin he hopes will lure Meredith's father into the mortal sin of despair. 

But that's not enough to satisfy Cameron's lust for revenge. Cameron plans to father a child on her -- and will keep Meredith captive until she is of a like mind and willing body. He doesn't know what a chore he has undertaken, or how involved he will become. Meredith doesn't know just how stubborn and appealing Cameron can be, or how willingly her body will betray her. 

This is the second of James's books it has been my pleasure to read. I considered my first, One Moonlit Night, outstanding. His Wicked Ways shows her previous book was no fluke. James possesses a rare gift with words, emotions and conflict. Her creative ability breathes life, color and humor into a world that no longer exists.  

James's superb characterization complements her well-researched setting and fresh, new and delightful plot. The empathetic hero and heroine grab the reader and never let go. And I didn't want it to let go -- I didn't even want the book to end. Although I have to say, without giving away any secrets, the ending was totally satisfying.
